Our History
Origins and Values
Caritas Foz do Iguaçu has its roots in the inspiring work of Dom Helder Camara, then Secretary General of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB). Since the Second Vatican Council, the organization has adopted a transformative pastoral approach, promoting concrete actions in favor of those most in need. As part of the CNBB Caritas network, which has 198 member organizations, 13 regional organizations and 4 articulations, Caritas Foz do Iguaçu is part of a global mission of solidarity, being one of the 170 member organizations of Caritas Internationalis.
Our mission, as an organization of the Catholic Church, is to promote charity and support to the most vulnerable communities within the Diocese of Foz do Iguaçu.
Cáritas Foz do Iguaçu works continuously and in a structured manner on several fronts, developing actions that generate a direct impact on society.
Our projects
transform LIVES
✔ Combating Human Trafficking
In partnership with the Technical Chamber, Cáritas holds two seminars and 12 regular meetings annually, contributing to tackling this serious social problem.
✔ Raising awareness against child sexual exploitation
The organization promotes educational and preventive actions at religious festivals and community events, aiming to protect children and adolescents.
✔ Management of the Diocese Solidarity Fund
Caritas assists in the administration and distribution of resources destined for social projects and assistance to families in vulnerable situations.
✔ Donation and Social Assistance Campaigns
The distribution of food and clothing to families in need is one of Caritas' permanent activities, ensuring basic support to those who need it most.
✔ Organization of Charity Bazaars
The bazaars promoted by the organization raise funds to maintain social actions and assist community projects.
